Record Sale Returns, Purchase Returns, and Exchanges in SalePro
Returns restore or remove the original stock and reverse dues/accounting; imported exchanges must be handled as a return plus a new sale.
Sale return#
Select the original sale and a positive quantity no greater than the unreturned/unexchanged source-line quantity, then choose whether the result reduces customer due or produces a refund. The submitted product, variant, batch, and IMEI/serial must belong to that sale line; a repeated or foreign identity is rejected. Stock returns to the original/authorized warehouse, imported FIFO cost is restored to its original allocation, customer due/refund is reconciled, and sale-return accounting reverses the applicable revenue/tax effect. Reward points earned by the sale are reversed proportionally.
Purchase return#
Select the supplier purchase and eligible, unreturned source lines. Stock leaves the authorized warehouse, supplier payable falls or a refund is recorded, and applicable input tax/accounting is reversed. Quantity cannot exceed the source receipt or currently reversible stock. Unknown historical source-line provenance remains null and may need evidence-led manual review.
Exchange#
For supported standard stock, choose an eligible source quantity and an in-stock replacement in the same controlled workflow. SalePro restores the returned item, consumes the replacement, and handles the price difference/payment settlement. A quantity already returned cannot be exchanged, and an exchanged quantity cannot later be returned. Imported source or replacement stock is rejected because the combined exchange cannot preserve authoritative FIFO history. Use a sale return followed by a new sale instead.
Deleting or editing a return/exchange must be able to invert the persisted identities, payments, stock allocations, and journals. A serial that was resold, downstream imported-layer consumption, a closed accounting period, or ambiguous legacy history can block reversal. Never create a second compensating transaction outside these workflows merely to make balances look right. See Tracked identity rules and Customer balances.
